It started with the used Peugeot 601 way back in 1934 and the Peugeot 600’s have been range-topping ever since. The Peugeot 605 was launched in 1989 and received recognition for its high equipment levels, luxurious interior, smooth ride and exceptional handling. Weak points of the used Peugeot 605 were that it was not different enough from its smaller stable-mate used Peugeot 405. There was a strong feeling especially outside France that the price difference between these two cars was not justified, especially as the dashboard of the used Peugeot 605 is somewhat uninspired in appearance. The Peugeot 605’s built after 1992 generally have better build quality and can make great second-hand bargains. This is due to the general bad reputation of the car that pushes prices down at the same time as the manufacturer desperately tried to improve the vehicle to ensure future markets in those years. Production of the Peugeot 605 was discontinued in 1999 after the launch of the Peugeot 406 in 1995 had significantly dropped sales for the Peugeot 605. The used Peugeot 605 is an excellent choice for those in the market for a reliable, fast, spacious and durable second-hand car. As long as the owner can shrug of the similarity to the Peugeot 405 the used Peugeot 605 is highly likely to meet buyer’s expectations. After all, it is an executive car.
